Last updated: April 3, 2026
Summary: Arogyam stores your medical data securely in your own Google/Firebase account. We do not sell, share, or access your personal health information. Your data is yours.
1. Introduction
Arogyam ("the App") is a personal medical records management application developed by Rahul Jangid. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
2. Information We Collect
When you use Arogyam, we may collect the following information:
- Google Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture to create your account.
- Medical Records: Prescriptions, lab reports, and other medical documents you voluntarily upload to the App.
- Family Member Information: Names and medical records of family members you choose to add.
- Photos: Images you capture using the camera or select from your photo library for scanning prescriptions and medical documents.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely for the following purposes:
- To authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In
- To store and organize your medical records securely
- To use AI (Google Gemini) to extract information from prescription images for your convenience
- To provide you access to your records across devices
4. Data Storage & Security
All your medical data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore & Storage), which is encrypted at rest and in transit. Your data is associated with your Google account and is only accessible by you when authenticated.
- Data is encrypted using industry-standard TLS encryption in transit
- Data at rest is encrypted by Google Firebase infrastructure
- We use Firebase Security Rules to ensure only authenticated users can access their own data
- We do not store your data on any additional servers
5. AI Processing & Third-Party Data Sharing
Important: This app uses a third-party AI service. Before any data is sent to the AI, you will be asked for your explicit consent inside the app. AI features are optional — the app works without them.
When you choose to use AI-powered features (prescription scanning, AI summaries, or lab report analysis), specific medical data is sent to Google via the Google Gemini API for processing. Below is a detailed breakdown:
5.1 What data is sent to Google Gemini AI:
- Prescription images (photos of handwritten or printed prescriptions)
- Medication names, dosages, frequencies, and durations
- Doctor names and hospital/clinic names
- Lab report test parameters, values, units, and reference ranges
- Any notes you add to your medical records
5.2 What data is NOT sent to Google Gemini AI:
- Your email address or Google account information
- Your Firebase user ID or authentication tokens
- Your date of birth, blood group, or allergies
- Any data from records where you have not triggered an AI feature
5.3 Who receives this data:
5.4 How the data is processed:
- Data is transmitted over encrypted (TLS) connections
- Data is processed in real-time for text extraction or analysis
- We do not store AI processing results on any server beyond your personal Firebase storage
- Google's Gemini API processes data according to their published data handling policies
5.5 Your consent:
- Before any data is sent to Google Gemini AI, the app displays a detailed consent dialog explaining exactly what data will be shared and with whom
- You must explicitly agree ("I Agree") before any AI feature can be used
- If you decline, all non-AI features of the app continue to work normally
- Your consent preference is stored in your profile and can be withdrawn at any time
6. Third-Party Services
Arogyam uses the following third-party services:
7. Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal or medical data to anyone
- Share your data with advertisers
- Access your medical records for any purpose
- Use your data for marketing or analytics
- Transfer your data to any third party beyond the services listed above
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as you maintain your account. You can delete your data at any time by:
- Deleting individual prescriptions, lab reports, or family members within the App
- Contacting us at the email below to request complete account deletion
Upon account deletion, all associated data will be permanently removed from our Firebase database within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Arogyam is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Camera & Photo Library Access
Arogyam requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely for the purpose of capturing or selecting medical documents (prescriptions, lab reports) for storage and AI-powered text extraction. Images are stored only in your private Firebase storage.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
